Sets out the product requirements for sawn and milled softwood timber products including type of product, dimensions, moisture content, tolerances, distortions, surface finish, finger-jointing, glue-laminating and end-matching. Grade descriptions are given in Part 2 of this series.
Scope
This Standard specifies product requirements, including tolerances, for tongued and grooved strip flooring, light decking, lining, dressed boards, joinery, mouldings, cladding, fascia and bargeboards sawn or milled from softwood.
This Standard also specifies product requirements, including tolerances for sawn boards intended as feedstock for the above products.
NOTES:
1 The coverage by this Standard of all softwood species does not imply their availability nor the availability of every grade in any species or species group (see Clause 1.5).
2 Milled timber for window frames, sashes and sills is specified in AS 2047.
3 Timber products milled from cypress pine are specified in AS 1810.
4 Timber for furniture components is specified in AS 4785.3.
