This Standard specifies the characteristics of hexagon socket head cap screws with coarse thread from M1.6 up to and including M64 and with fine pitch thread from M8 x 1 up to and including M36 x 3, of product grade A.

For approximate masses of steel screws, see Annex A.

If, in special cases, dimensions and product specifications other than those listed in this Standard are required, they shall be selected from existing Japanese Industrial Standards, for example, JIS B 0205-2, JIS B 0209-2, JIS B 1009, JIS B 1021, JIS B 1051, JIS B 1054-1 and JIS B 1057 upon agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer

NOTE: The International Standards corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 4762 : 2004 Hexagon socket head cap screws

ISO 12474 : 2010 Hexagon socket head cap screws with metric fine pitch thread (Overall evaluation: MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standards and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1
