The<br \/>\nelectrical characteristics of the circuit are specified in terms of<br \/>\nrequired voltage, current, and resistance values obtained from<br \/>\nmeasurement made at the interface point.<\/p>\n<p>It Is Intended that this electrical standard interoperate with<br \/>\ngenerators and receivers that conform to EIA Standard EIA\/TIA-232-D<br \/>\nand\/or CCITT Recommendation V.28. It is Intended that this standard<br \/>\nwill be referenced by other standards that specify the other<br \/>\nnecessary components of an interface (e.g., protocol, timing, pin<br \/>\nassignments, etc.) for applications where the electrical<br \/>\ncharacteristics of an unbalanced voltage digital circuit are<br \/>\nrequired.
